RMV Psychiatric Evaluations for Bourne Drivers
If RMV Medical Affairs has asked you to complete a Psychiatric Evaluation (Form MAB118), Greater Boston Psychiatric Services can complete it for adults in Bourne. Villages and neighborhoods we serve include Buzzards Bay, Monument Beach, Pocasset, Cataumet, Gray Gables, Sagamore, Sagamore Beach and Bournedale.
Bourne clients can meet with us by secure video from home, which means no drive to Medway. If you would rather meet face to face, our office is at 165 Main Street, Suite 111A, Medway, MA 02053.
Bourne: Where the Cape Begins
Bourne is the town on the mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal, and it is the first Cape town drivers reach after the Bourne Bridge. It includes Buzzards Bay village, Monument Beach, Pocasset, Cataumet, Gray Gables and Bournedale, as well as Sagamore on the canal. Many Bourne residents commute off Cape or work seasonally, which makes appointments by video, often in the evening or between shifts, especially useful.
Because OUI cases arising in Bourne are heard at Falmouth District Court rather than a court closer to the canal, Bourne drivers sometimes work with Falmouth attorneys. We coordinate with your attorney wherever they practice.
Local Courts and RMV Offices for Bourne Drivers
Form MAB118 is handled by RMV Medical Affairs, which reviews completed forms centrally rather than through a local office. The nearest RMV Service Centers listed by the RMV are in South Yarmouth and Plymouth. Hearings for suspensions are held by phone.
A Medical Affairs request is separate from any court case. You can be asked for this evaluation even if you have never been charged with anything.
What Is the RMV Psychiatric Evaluation (Form MAB118)?
RMV Medical Affairs requests a Psychiatric Evaluation (Form MAB118) when it has received a report, from a health care provider or law enforcement official, suggesting that a driver may have a psychiatric or medical condition affecting their ability to drive safely. It is a different requirement from the substance abuse evaluation with risk of recidivism: it is not tied to an OUI or DUI case.
Massachusetts requires the form to be completed by a physician licensed in the state or a psychiatric nurse practitioner, which are the credential types on our clinical team.

Frequently Asked Questions
