What Being In-Network Means
When you're covered by one of the plans above, GBPS bills your insurance directly for covered services — you're responsible only for your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible, not the full cost of the visit. Being in-network also means your agreement with your insurer sets your rates so that you won't get surprise billing on our end.
What's Typically Covered
Most commercial plans cover psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management as a standard behavioral health benefit, whether the visit happens by telehealth or in person. RMV evaluations are billed the same way when insurance applies, though some patients choose self-pay for these since they're often a one-time, non-ongoing service. Your specific copay, deductible status, and any prior-authorization requirement depend on your individual plan—not just your insurer—so the fastest way to confirm your exact costs is to check directly with your plan or ask us to help verify your benefits before your first appointment.
How to Check Your Coverage
-
Look at your insurance card for your plan name and member ID.
-
Call the member services number on the back of your card and ask whether outpatient behavioral health/psychiatric services are covered and what your copay or coinsurance is for a specialist visit.
-
Or, contact us with your insurance information, and we'll help verify your benefits before you schedule.
Self-Pay & Good Faith Estimate
Suppose you're self-paying—whether by choice or because your plan isn't one we bill directly—you have the right under federal law to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before your appointment. See our Good Faith Estimate Statement for details.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my insurance isn't on this list?
You may still be able to see us as a self-pay patient, and some plans offer out-of-network reimbursement you can submit yourself—check with your insurer about out-of-network behavioral health benefits.
Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?
No. We can't bill Medicare, Medicaid, or supplemental plans.
Does my plan need prior authorization?
Some plans require prior authorization for psychiatric services, particularly ongoing medication management. Your insurer's member services line can tell you whether your specific plan requires it.
Is the cost different for telehealth versus in-person visits?
No. Insurance billing and your responsibility (copay/coinsurance) are the same whether your appointment is by secure video or in person at our Medway office.
Can I switch between insurance and self-pay?
Yes. If your coverage changes, or you'd rather not bill insurance for a particular visit, let us know before your appointment so we can adjust your billing accordingly.
