This Privacy Policy explains how Greater Boston Psychiatric Services (“GBPS,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects the personal information of our patients, prospective patients and visitors to www.greaterbostonpsych.com.

 

Your Health Information

Health information we create or receive as part of your care is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Massachusetts law. How we use and share that information, and your rights over it, are described in our Notice of Privacy Practices (HIPAA Notice), listed on our Forms & Disclosures page and available from our office on request. Where this policy and the Notice of Privacy Practices differ on health information, the Notice of Privacy Practices applies.

 

Information We Collect From You

We collect personal information when you fill out a form on our website, register as a patient, request or book an appointment, set up a billing account, or contact our office. Depending on the form, this may include:

  • First and last name

  • Date of birth

  • Email address and mobile phone number

  • Mailing address

  • Whether you prefer a video or in-person appointment

  • The service you are requesting

  • For RMV evaluations, your court or RMV hearing date and your attorney’s name, if you choose to share them

Please do not send detailed medical information through our website contact form. We will collect what we need securely during intake.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run our practice, and only for these limited purposes:

We may also share information when the law requires it, such as to respond to a court order, subpoena or other lawful request. Massachusetts law gives additional protection to communications between patients and mental health professionals; see Section 503 of the Massachusetts Guide to Evidence (Psychotherapist-Patient Privilege) at mass.gov.

 

Text Messages (SMS)

  • We send text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them. You can opt in through our SMS consent process, or by texting us first. If you text us first, we will ask you to reply YES before we continue texting you, and only at the number you provided.

  • Consent to receive texts is separate from consent to other kinds of communication and is not a condition of receiving care or making a purchase.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any of our text messages or by contacting our office.

  • We will never share, trade or sell your phone number or SMS consent to third parties.

We follow carrier requirements for 10DLC (10-digit long code) messaging, keep records of opt-ins and opt-outs, and design our text program to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and other applicable rules.

 

Email

To stop receiving marketing emails, click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email. We may still send essential emails about your appointments, provider or billing.

 

How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

 

Adults Only

Our services are for adults 18 and older. Our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
