RMV Evaluations for Deerfield Drivers
After an OUI or DUI, an Immediate Threat determination or an interlock violation, most drivers need an RMV-required clinical evaluation before reinstatement is considered. We complete these evaluations for adults in Deerfield. Villages and neighborhoods we serve include South Deerfield and Old Deerfield.
Deerfield clients can meet with us by secure video from home, which means no drive to Medway. If you would rather meet face to face, our office is at 165 Main Street, Suite 111A, Medway, MA 02053.
Getting Your Evaluation Done from Deerfield
Deerfield is home to Historic Deerfield and Deerfield Academy, lies between the Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers, and is served by Interstate 91. Because a video appointment needs only a device and a connection, residents of Deerfield can skip the drive and the parking and meet from home or work. If you are working toward reinstatement after an OUI or DUI, a local evaluation date and a clear plan matter.
Local Courts and RMV Offices for Deerfield Drivers
OUI cases arising in Deerfield are heard at Greenfield District Court, 43 Hope Street, Greenfield, MA, which serves Ashfield, Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, Gill, Greenfield, Hawley, Heath, Leyden, Monroe, Montague, Northfield, Rowe, Shelburne, Sunderland, and Whately. The nearest RMV Service Centers listed by the RMV include Greenfield and Easthampton.
The RMV is separate from the courts. Even after your Deerfield court case is resolved, the RMV may have its own requirements, including this evaluation, before your license is reinstated.
Which RMV Evaluation Do You Need?
Your RMV letter or hearing notice lists your requirements. We offer both evaluations the RMV typically asks for, separately or together:
Substance Abuse Evaluation with Risk of Recidivism: the most common requirement after an OUI, DUI or Immediate Threat suspension.
RMV Psychiatric Evaluation (Form MAB118): required when the RMV has concerns about mental health or medications.
Both, combined: one appointment at the combined rate.
What Is a Risk of Recidivism Assessment?
A risk of recidivism assessment is the clinician's written opinion on how likely you are to have another alcohol- or drug-related driving offense. It is attached to your substance abuse evaluation, which is why many people call it a "letter of recidivism." It draws on your substance use history, any prior offenses, the treatment and recovery steps you've taken, and your mental health history.
The RMV does not waive this requirement. Until it is completed, your suspension can remain in place indefinitely, so it's worth getting it done early.
How the Process Works
Complete the quick form. Include your hearing date and your attorney's name if you have one.
Meet with your clinician. A one-hour interview by secure video, or in person at our Medway office.
We complete your report. Your substance abuse evaluation and risk of recidivism assessment.
You receive your written report, which you can provide to the RMV so you can move forward with your hearing.
Turnaround: in as little as 48 hours when your hearing is close. Tell us your date and we'll prioritize accordingly.

Crash and Impaired Driving Statistics in Deerfield
In MassDOT's 2021 to 2025 data, Deerfield shows 570 crashes: 25 with suspected alcohol, 8 with suspected drug use, and 3 that were fatal.
Figures are from the MassDOT IMPACT Crash Data Portal, accessed October 2026. Treat the suspected alcohol and drug counts as a floor, since they depend on scene reports, and remember that a crash is not an OUI charge.
We published a sourced overview of crashes, OUI and mental health in Massachusetts: Recidivism, Mental Health and RMV Evaluations in Massachusetts. It covers what the evidence shows about ADHD and driving, and what an RMV evaluation looks at. More on the conditions we treat is here.
